Shang-Chi: Kevin Feige confirms Abomination and Wong will appear

It’s been over 10 years since we last saw Abomination, who will be throwing down with Wong in Shang-Chi’s upcoming solo film.

On Tuesday, Rotten Tomatoes published an exclusive interview with Kevin Feige about Marvel Studios’ upcoming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. In addition to discussing how great it will be to not screw up the Mandarin like they did in Iron Man 3, Fiege confirmed that the film’s final trailer (embedded below) gives us a quick glimpse at Abomination throwing hands with Wong.

The whole trailer is worth watching multiple times, but skip to 1:50 if you want to see the Abomination vs. Wong scene.

We last saw Wong standing alongside the rest of the Avengers against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. While he’s normally associated with Doctor Strange, it’ll be fun to see the character in a different setting. Also, Benedict Wong (the actor who portrays him) makes anything he appears in better.

As far as Abomination is concerned, that’s a pretty deep MCU cut. The last time we saw the big guy, he was getting his ass kicked by Edward Norton’s version of the Hulk over a decade ago.

Abomination

It’s no surprise that the character is returning. In fact, it was announced all the way back in December that Tim Roth would be reprising the role for Disney+’s upcoming She-Hulk series. Still, it’s probably safe to assume no one was expecting him to make his initial return to the MCU via Shang-Chi’s solo film.

Based on the few seconds we see him, it also appears that Abomination got some upgrades (or at the very a more badass appearance). Whatever the case, it’s yet another reason to be excited for September 3 with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings hits theaters.
