Today, Marvel Comics has teased an upcoming one-shot in the Marvel Tales line that’ll focus on Genis-Vell. This character is returning in a big way in the Captain Marvel series which Marvel teased back in July. Marvel Tales is a monthly line of reprint comics that align with current or upcoming stories at Marvel.
In Kelly Thompson and Sergio Dávila’s upcoming story arc “The Last of the Marvels,” a mysterious new enemy begins targeting every hero with a connection to the Captain Marvel legacy which forces the son of the original Captain Marvel to resurface. The new Marvel Tales one-shot by Peter David and Crisscross aims to catch readers up on this character.
So what’s Genis-Vell: Marvel Tales #1 about?
Meet the son of the greatest warrior the galaxy has ever known! Spawned in a test tube, Genis-Vell now struggles to fill the boots of his late father Mar-Vell — the original Kree Captain Marvel! Genis has inherited Mar-Vell’s greatest gift, cosmic awareness — which might be enough to make him go mad, if he didn’t have Rick Jones along for the ride. But sharing a body, and switching places back and forth from the Negative Zone, might drive them both crazy!
