On Sunday, Jason Momoa took to Instagram to share the new suit he will be sporting in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. After posting a shot of his original outfit, the next slide reveals a much sleeker design for the upcoming sequel.
I don’t know enough about Aquaman’s comic mythology to definitively say where this costume drew its inspiration from. If I had to guess, however, it appears very similar to the look Arthur Curry sported in the recent Exile storyline (sans the green pants, of course).
If there’s another look out there that’s closer and I completely missed, please feel free to correct/ridicule me the comments. No matter what he’s wearing, however, it’s a safe bet that Jason Mamoa will still end up shirtless at some point.
The original Aquaman film was well received by audiences (especially when compared to other recent DC films), so expectations for the sequel are high. I’m just personally excited that director James Wan wants to add more horror elements to the movie.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set to premiere on December 16, 2022.
