Dark Horse Comics has revealed a new partnership with YouNeek Studios and is set to publish previously self-published stories from their line of graphic novels starting September 7th. Announced back in January and headed by Roye Okupe, the stories are part of a universe of superheroes that span centuries and are centered on African stories and crafted by African creators.
The 10-book program was originally crowdfunded and self-published by founder Roye Okupe that Dark Horse acquired. As Roye describes it: “YouNeek YouNiverse is a massive, interconnected universe of sci-fi, fantasy and superhero content spread across multiple timelines with stories told from an African perspective.”
Roye added, “With this monumental partnership with Dark Horse and the impeccable history, support, and infrastructure they bring to the table, we will finally be able to achieve our ultimate goal: create, for a global audience, content that empowers African creatives and storytelling.”

Ever the curious warrior, Bass Kazaar, found one of the ancient Atalian relics and became the first WindMaker. With his newfound powers to manipulate the wind as well as his Red Raven Army, Bass would go on to drive the rouge general Cheng and his forces away from Atala. His victory would go on to earn him the honor of being crowned the first-ever King of Atala.
