Announced via Disney’s Disney+ Day, a new Predator movie is on the way for the summer of 2022. If you’re confused, the project is streaming on Disney+ in international markets via 20th Century Studios under the Star brand, on Hulu in the U.S., and Star+ in Latin America.
The new movie is called Prey. The film is directed by Dan Trachtenberg and premieres in Summer 2022.
So what’s Prey about?
Set in the world of the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, the action-thriller follows Naru, the skilled warrior who fiercely protects her tribe against a highly evolved alien predator.
If you’re a fan of insider movie news, you are probably scratching your head since the original screenwriters Jim and John Thomas of the Predator film are suing over the rights of the series. Then in April of 2021, Disney filed a countersuit against the Thomas brothers on the subject of the reclamation date, and in June, the case was transferred to the Central District of California in Los Angeles.
Screenrant does a nice job breaking all that down, but with the copyright trial set to kick off in April 2022, there’s no telling what will happen with this fifth film.
