Issue #2 of Rick Remender and artist Andre Lima Araujo’s crime mystery A Righteous Thirst for Vengeance continues to offer the perfect blend of creepiness, intriguing detail, elements of mystery, and unique storytelling. The first book saw Sonny find Mayor Oak and a woman, most likely his wife, brutally murdered by a guy Sonny ironically bumped into in a convenience store by the alias Blue Jackal. The second installment drags readers deeper down the realms of the dark web as Sonny tries to predict the Blue Jackal’s next intended target. But what Sonny doesn’t realize is that he may have left a clue behind that could help the cops pin him to the crime. A Righteous Thirst for Vengeance #2 is a nail-biting thrill ride with a cliffhanger that will have you on the edge of your seat.

A Righteous Thirst for Vengeance #2 is a silent, but informative issue. In the first chapter, we watched Sonny uncover the brutal murder of Mayor Oak, and now we see him in this book looking up information on the dark web connected to mayor Oak that makes the reader assume that he could be a contract killer or have some affiliation with the shady web organizations in general. Which side Sonny is on is the most astounding element as the story moves forward.
Once again, Andre Lima Araujo is spot-on with his epic storytelling, with little to no dialogue or captions throughout the book. Instead, Araujo takes readers on an artistic journey of mystery, discovery, and some amazingly detailed areas. Araujo’s pacing, transition, and emotional connection with the characters seem so effortless. He has created a world that feels close to reality and sells the book’s overall plot well.
A Righteous Thirst for Vengeance #2 is a brain teaser that builds on the anticipation of the first, with excellent writing by the always impressive Rick Remender and outstanding art by Andre Lima Araujo. Where Sonny stands is still yet to be seen, but one thing you can bet on is this book is worth picking up.
