On Friday, Nellie Andreeva of Deadline.com exclusively revealed that Natasha Liu Bordizzo has been cast portray Sabine Wren in Disney+’s live action Ahsoka series.
I’ll just go ahead and admit right now that I don’t know a thing about the Australian actress, but she definitely looks the part. As for Sabine Wren’s involvement in the story, that was pretty much a given…but in case you’re new around here:
Sabine is a Mandalorian from Clan Wren of House Vizsla. Her mother, Ursa Wrenn, was a close ally of Bo-Katan. Following the rise of the Empire, Sabine was a key member of the Ghost Crew from Star Wars: Rebels. In addition to being a badass fighter, she’s also an exceptional artist who isn’t afraid to leave her mark on Imperial property.
Her history is heavily tied into the fabled Dark Saber, which ended up playing a massive role in Star Wars: The Mandalorian. At the end of Star Wars: Rebels, Sabine and Ahsoka head off to search for their missing teammate Ezra Bridger, who was last seen disappearing into hyperspace with Grand Admiral Thrawn.
If that names sounds familiar, it’s because we last saw Ahsoka in The Mandalorian demanding that magistrate Morgan Elsbeth reveal Thrawn’s location.
While the timeline of these events hasn’t been definitively established, we finally have confirmation that Sabine and Ahsoka will be reunited in live action to search for their missing teammate.
