Courtesy of Heavy Metal via their VIRUS imprint, we have an exclusive preview of the new series Solomon’s Men. Out now digitally and in print, the series comes from comics newcomer Andrew Davies Gans and artist Jason Johnson.
“Entering into the comic book world for the first time was a rather daunting decision, but one that felt right for this,” Andrew Davies Gans said in a statement sent to AIPT. “I met Shannon Eric Denton, who came onto the project to help me build a team that would bring this book to life. Working with artist Jason Johnson and colorist Carlos Badilla gave me the freedom and confidence to push the story to be what it is today. We’re all very grateful to have our work recognized and appreciated by Matthew Medney and the rest of the Heavy Metal team. I am proud that Solomon’s Men found a home here.”

Midnight, mid-March, mid-70s; an ancient monastery sits overlooking the city of Tomar, Portugal. For almost 700 years, an artifact has laid protected under guard by the monastery’s occupants, until tonight. Centuries-old oaths are threatened as a thief hides in the shadows. Hired to steal what he believes to be another personal antiquity, Greg Valdez, infiltrates the monastery. If he only knew the truth behind this mission, he’d save himself from a devoted group of mercenary monks adorned as Solomon’s Men, whose sole purpose is protecting the artifact with their lives.
