Earlier this week, Hasbro’s Star Wars team held a Fan First livestream to reveal some new products. It was fairly disappointing as far as figures go, but any release would have struggled to outshine the newest Vintage Collection playset — the largest one Hasbro has ever created.
Let’s take a look at that first before diving into the other Vintage Collection and Black Series reveals.
The Vintage Collection: Boba Fett’s Throne Room Playset
Now THIS is how you do a playset.
Yes, the retail price is still too high ($229.99), but at least you get a ton of cool stuff for it. Some of the highlights from this accessory packed offering include:
- A turning fire spit.
- A rolling dais with a removable (and gorgeously detailed) throne so that Jabba can relax in his old chair.
- A figure of Bib Fortuna from his appearance when Boba Fett shot him and assumed control of Jabba’s former criminal empire.
Boba Fett’s Throne Room playset will be sold exclusively through Hasbro Pulse. It is currently available for preorder (and hopefully not sold out already) with an expected arrival in Summer 2023…which is a really long time, but at least gives us all time to see if it can be a birthday gift, right?
This set could have taken up a whole livestream on its own, but there were some other Vintage Collection reveals.
501st Clone Trooper
This is one lots of folks like to army build (myself included). I’ve already got what I need, but folks who don’t will be treated to an improved headsculpt under the helmet. It’s also on a new cardback for you sickos who don’t open your figures.
The 501st Clone Trooper will retail for $13.99. It is available for preorder from your preferred online retailer with an expected arrival this Fall.
Vintage Collection Pipeline Reveals
- Anakin Skywalker (Episode II): Good stuff.
- Mandalorian Commando: GREAT STUFF!
Black Series Gaming Greats
It was a very light/disappointing day for the 6″ scale Black Series line. In addition to only having one new reveal, it appears that an across the board price hike is now officially in place.
Nightbrother Archer
At least the lone new reveal is a pretty cool looking figure from the Jedi: Fallen Order video game. Unfortunately, the release of its ground troop counterpart has been a complete mess so far.
If you want this one, it will retail for $27.99(!) and is available for preorder exclusively from GameStop with an expected arrival this Fall.
Black Series Archive Line
The following popular-ish Black Series figures are being released again in the Black Series archive line in this Fall. They will each retail for $24.99 (yikes) and are currently available for preorder from your preferred online retailers.
C-3PO (A New Hope)
Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard)
Dengar (Empire Strikes Back)
Emperor Palpatine
Black Series Pipeline Reveals: Archive Line
- Han Solo (The Force Awakens): Let’s hope they get it right this time.
- Chewbacca (A New Hope): People still need this one?
- Grand Moff Tarkin: Good choice.
- Princess Leia Organa (Boushh Disguise): Also a good choice.
Black Series New Pipeline Reveals
- Aayla Secura: Yes!
- Darth Maul (Clone Wars S7): Yes!!
- Saw Gerrera: YES!
Pre Order News
Wave 32 of the Black Series features some pretty heavy-hitters:
- Omega
- The Client
- Echo
- Ashoka (The Mandalorian)
- Death Watch Mandalorian (The Mandalorian)
It is apparently available for preorder now with an expected arrival next year…which is odd considering that it’s shown up in random stores around the country already.
Oh, Hasbro…
The new/previously announced Vintage Collection Yoda figure is also available now for preorder, although I haven’t seen any reports about the little green guy showing up in stores yet.
