Yesterday, James Whitbrook of Gizmodo exclusively revealed our first look at Hasbro’s latest version of Cad Bane for the Star Wars: Black Series toy line. Instead of being based off his recent appearance The Book of Boba Fett, however, this one depicts how he looked in The Bad Batch.
I love Cad Bane as much as anyone, but this figure has multiple issues that make it an easy pass for me.
First is the lack of accessories. I’m not saying I need a ton of them, but this toy has been saddled with Hasbro’s new $28 retail price point for exclusive figures. It was barely two years ago that you could get an exclusive version of him and his robot sidekick, Todo 360, for $29.99.
I also am not a huge fan of the facial portrait. The snarl is great, but I would’ve liked to see more of his red eyes. Don’t get me wrong–it’s not a deal breaker. In fact, if the figure had a $20 price point, I’d absolutely buy it. But when you combine the exclusive pricing and lack of accessories, the value just isn’t there.
If you want to purchase this figure, however, it will be sold exclusively through Amazon and be available for preorder Wednesday at 1:00 PM EST.
