Dark Horse Comics has revealed a new adventure in the world of James Cameron’s Avatar is on the way, and it’s a prequel series called Avatar: Adapt or Die. Not only that, the series is written by the incredible Corinna Bechko with art by Beni R. Lobel, colors by Wes Dzioba, and letters by Michael Heisler.

Avatar: Adapt or Die arrives in comic book shops on May 4th. The series will focus on Dr. Grace Augustine, a character played by Sigourney Weaver in the Avatar films.

So what’s Avatar: Adapt or Die about?

Decades into the advent of the Avatar program on Pandora, pressure to bridge the divide between human and Na’vi has hit a peak. As an ally of the Omatikaya clan, Dr. Grace Augustine begins negotiations to open a school for Na’vi children, but her plans for peace, hope, and unity could trigger an unprecedented disaster—one afflicting the most vulnerable and protected of Na’vi.

MILWAUKIE, Ore., (February 18, 2022)—Dark Horse Comics, in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and 20th Century Studios, presents a new tale from James Cameron’s Avatar, exploring humanity’s early years on Pandora! Written by Eisner and Hugo-nominated author Corinna Bechko (Lara Croft and the Frozen Omen, Invisible Republic), illustrated by Beni R. Lobel (Constantine, Voltron), colored by Wes Dzioba (Avatar: Tsu’tey’s Path, Ghost), and lettered by Michael Heisler (Tomb Raider, Mass Effect: Foundation), Avatar: Adapt or Die follows the heroine Dr. Grace Augustine as she becomes caught between two worlds!
