ComiXology responds to user outrage over Amazon integration

ComiXology hopes to resolve many of the user frustration soon.

ComiXology has responded to its users over Twitter today surrounding the outrage and frustration readers have had using the digital comics service. ComiXology was bought by Amazon in 2014, and while the ComiXology site has been functioning up until recently and is now on Amazon.com, the switch to Amazon.com was planned since last fall.

The problem with the experience got far worse last week when ComiXology’s site was fully retired and all accounts were moved to the new Amazon.com website.

After days of frustration, however, ComiXology has finally responded to users who were outraged with the switch. The thread points out they are aware of and hear its users loud and clear and are working to fix things.

The thread details a number of fixes which include:

  • Updates to the New Releases filter on the New Releases page across web & app so that the filters work correctly
  • Rolled out and updated for Fire OS app, and are working on a bug fix for books that aren’t loading in HD
  • Adding navigation to accounts from the main store page soon
  • Other refinements

It’s been a tough week for ComiXology and its readers as the digital comics service moved its platform to Amazon.com which hugely impacted the reader experience. Many ComiXology subscribers were reporting issues finding the comics they owned as well as reading comics on browsers. Even Patton Oswalt, comedian and actor, took ComiXology to task online.

The ComiXology Twitter thread also gave some info about how guided view works and that purchases are available via the account page on the web, along with DRM-free downloads for books purchased prior to the 4.0 update.

Stay tuned to AIPT as we get new information on the ComiXology updates.
