Following last week’s announcement of Morbius‘ new April 1 2022 release date, Sony released another final trailer for the film. Considering all the delays this project has had to endure, it might seem like showing anything beyond what we saw back in November would give away too much.
Thankfully, Sony was able to cut together some footage that makes Morbius still worth getting excited about (at least for us Spider-Man fans) without spoiling the entire movie.
At first, it appears that this new trailer consists of things we’ve scene before with a few added FX shots. Near the end, however, we get our first good look at Matt Smith as the obscure 90’s villain Loxias Crown, aka Hunger.
There’s a bunch of convoluted backstory behind the character (including some stuff with Hydra), but all you really need to know is that he’s got basically the same curse/powers as Morbius without any of that pesky empathy to keep it in check.

The trailer ends with a joke that revolves around The Lost Boys, which made my Gen X heart happy. I’m also normally wary of comedic actors playing law enforcement roles in films like this, but Al Madrigal and Tyrese Gibson seem like a pairing that could work incredibly well.
Now let’s just hope Morbius is finally able to open in theaters this Spring.
