EXCLUSIVE ComiXology First Look: Red Tag – Meet the Cast

Get an exclusive look at character bios and designs for the new series ‘Red Tag’ out now.

Out today is a new ComiXology Originals called Red Tag. In collaboration with Stout Club Entertainment, Red Tag is a 5-issue limited comic series from the minds of Rafael Scavone, Rafael Albuquerque, and Roger Cruz. Courtesy of ComiXology, we have an exclusive look at the cast of Red Tag with short bios of the characters by writer Rafael Scavone and character designs by Roger Cruz and Rafael Albuquerque.

A fast-paced thriller set on the streets of Brazil, Red Tag is written by Scavone (A Study in Emerald, Hit-Girl, Funny Creek and Hailstone), illustrated by Roger Cruz (X-Men, Shampoo) with colors by Cris Peter, letters by Bernardo Brice, and edits by Bis Stringer Horne. The first issue is out today via Amazon and will be available simultaneously in both English and Portuguese.

So what’s Red Tag about?

While searching for justice on the streets of São Paulo, Lis, Lu and Leco – three friends bonded by their love for Brazil’s unique street art “pixo” – discover a deadly conspiracy. And their actions have brought them to the attention of dangerous elements coming straight from Brazil’s brutal past…

Lis (Lisa)
Red Tag’s protagonist is a young teacher of Writing and Portuguese Language in a São Paulo’s elementary school. She struggled since an early age to become a teacher, studying at night while working during daytime. She believes people have the right to speak out their ideas in order to be part of a democracy and it was because of this that she got in touch with “pixo”, or pichação – a form of street art which became a São Paulo’s trademark.

Lu (Luciana)
Lu sees herself as a true rebel since she left home at an early age and cut relations with her family. Living alone in a small studio apartment in downtown São Paulo, Lu makes ends meet repairing cell phones, and also by carrying out small scams using what she knows most – cheap technology made in China. Lu also loves pichação and met Lis and Leco while tagging a wall, years ago.

Leco (Leandro)
Leco is a young man who has worked as a motorcycle courier since his teens. He learned to ride with his gone father, from whom he inherited his old motorbike. Leco works like a dog to help his family and often questions himself on how legal are some of the deliveries he’s appointed to make. He’s famous among his friends for finding excellent spots to practice their unique art.

Zé Fofinho
Red Tag’s villain is a mysterious old man coming straight from the torture chambers of the last Brazilian’s dictatorship. Feared among his peers by doing the dirty work for big names in positions of power, when in trouble. He is known for his cruelty and secrecy.

Noronha
A military policeman who works undercover in São Paulo downtown. Noronha is a brute who actually makes money through small extortions while being part of a powerful police mafia.
