Marvel promises ‘unpredictable’ story in ‘Thor: Lightning and Lament’ #1

Asgard goes to war, Loki takes the throne, and Thor makes a fateful decision in a new one-shot out June 2022.

Marvel Comics has revealed a new Thor one-shot from writer Ralph Macchio and artist Todd Nauck set for June 29th release. The story comes in time for Thor’s 60th anniversary in August 1962 and features new insights into Loki, Odin, and Thor too, of course. This will give more casual Thor fans something to chew on as Donny Cates sends Thor up against Hulk in the “Hulk vs. Thor: Banner War” crossover running through June.

So what’s Thor: Lightning and Lament #1 about?

The Mighty Thor has abandoned Asgard in her greatest hour of need, leaving the Realm Eternal in the hands of his half brother Loki, in the absence of its rightful ruler, Odin. With Asgard under assault by legions of trolls, and the Lady Sif hovering near death due to a possibly fatal wound suffered in battle, can anyone save the Golden City from annihilation?

Check out the cover by Ron Lim with colors by Israel Silva below.
