The biggest new video games releasing the week of 3/14/22

Check out what’s new in the world of video games this week.

If you’re ready to pull yourself away from Pokemon Legends: ArceusHorizon Forbidden WestElden Ring, and all of the other insanely great releases of 2022 so far, then March has some new fun games in store for you.

Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.

Tunic (3/16)

Tunic is a Zelda-inspired action game where gamers will “play as a small fox on a big adventure.” You’ll take control of a green-tunic-wearing fox (Hmm, where have we seen this outfit before?) and explore a vibrant and colorful world while taking on equally vibrant enemies. The game looks wonderful, and what’s most impressive about it is that Tunic was developed by one person, Andrew Shouldice. It arrives for PC and Xbox consoles this week.

Onde (3/17)

Take a break from dying repeatedly in Elden Ring and relax a bit with Onde, coming to Steam this week and Switch and IOS later this year. It’s a platformer and puzzle game set in an ethereal world where you’ll ride, follow, and creates paths of light and sound to move throughout the beautiful landscapes while enjoying the game’s relaxing and meditative music. You’ll “conduct soothing sounds as you navigate through melodic environments” in the game’s abstract world.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin (3/18)

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is an alternate universe retelling of the first Final Fantasy‘s story set in a dark fantasy world filled with magic and monsters. It isn’t a straight remake of the original NES game; instead, it uses the first game’s world, story, and themes as a jumping off point to tell a darker story. Team Ninja, known for the Dead or AliveNinja Gaiden, and Nioh series, is behind Stranger of Paradise, meaning you can expect difficult and fluid combat. If you’re like me and have yet to play your first Final Fantasy game, Stanger of Paradise will be a great place to start. A demo version is currently available so you can get a taste of the game before fully committing.
