BIORIPPLE, a Bio-Punk graphic novel from Heavy Metal and created by writer-artist Nir Levie, follows a law enforcement teacher who hunts down members of a crime organization in an attempt to curb an illegal autonomy inside the city.
Humanity has made the discovery that consciousness occupies multiple dimensions and has its roots beyond the senses. Technology has allowed them to house consciousness digitally, replacing the end physical receptacle of the human body with a computational one. This is referred to as “Hopping”. Hopping became illegal due to the suffering the contained consciousness endures.
Emily is an anxious cop teacher. In her world, people’s minds are connected to Geodesics – A kind of “internet of everything”. She is called upon to locate a member of The Manifold – An anti-Geodesics organization. Upon reaching his last known location, she realizes he has recently fled right after having performed an illegal hop.
