In episode three, Top Chef bypassed the traditional quickfire in order to prepare the contestants for the elimination: the series’ first Asian Night Market. Season three winner, Hung Huynh, tasked the competitors to make a street food dish that took inspiration from a particular country’s cuisine.
They all drew knives and were separated into groups that included Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, Vietnamese, and Indian. A local chef who specialized in a particular food provided examples of their cooking to help guide the participants. For some, this would be their first and only introduction so the challenge proved to be tricky.
With only one challenge this week, there was one less way to assess how the chefs performed. Below are the Power Rankings for week three.

New episodes of Top Chef season 19 air Thursday nights on Bravo.
