On Wednesday, Hasbro used their Fan First livestream to unveil a boatload of new figures for their 3.75″ scale Vintage Collection line. Some Black Series products were revealed as well, but they weren’t nearly as good or plentiful.
Our recap of what was shown will start with the Vintage Collection offerings. We already got to see Figrin D’an yesterday, but there’s a whole lot more good stuff coming down the line. Most of it won’t hit store shelves until Spring 2023 (ugh), but that just means we can add even more items to our overflowing preorder lists.
Arc Trooper Jesse
A single-carded version of the figure from the great Arc Trooper 3-pack released last year. It will retail for $14.99 and go up for preorder on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 PM at most major retailers.
Shae Vizla
Even though I wasn’t terribly familiar with the expanded universe material this character appeared in, I still thought she looked cool enough to get the original figure back in 2012. I also thought I didn’t need to pick up the rerelease, but then Paul over at Jedi Temple Archives posted a comparison shot and yeah…that may need to happen. The facial portrait is exponentially better and the armor detail looks fantastic.
The figure will retail for $16.99 as a fan channel (online toy stores) exclusive and be available for preorder on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 PM EDT. It’s also expected to arrive by fall of this year, which feels lightning quick compared to the glut of other preorders we’ve had lately.
Mandalorian Death Watch Airborne Trooper
This incredible-looking figure is based on the Mandalorian airborne troopers as they appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Even if you think you have enough 3.75″ scale Mandos, the weathering and emblem details on this one make it impossible to pass up.
The figure will retail for $14.99 and go up for preorder on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 PM EDT from most major retailers.
Mandalorian Super Commando Captain
I was hoping for Gar Saxon with a removable helmet, but will still be picking up a pair of these (if they don’t sell out). I know some folks don’t like the “Mauldalorian” design, but I absolutely love it.
The figure will retail for $14.99 and go up for preorder on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 PM EDT from most major retailers.
Lando Calrissian (Battlefront II)
I had no idea that Lando appeared in Battlefront II, but this figure looks so good I may have to buy one anyway. It will retail for $16.99 as a fan channel (online toy stores) exclusive and be available for preorder on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 PM EDT. Like Shae, Lando will be arriving on toy shelves in this Fall instead of next year.
Imperial Death Trooper 4-pack
There are plenty of things to be frustrated with Hasbro’s Star Wars team about lately, but you gotta give them credit for these great Trooper builder packs. I’m already good on Death Troopers, but this great for folks who still want more.
The Imperial Death Trooper 4-pack will retail for $44.99 and go up for preorder on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 PM EDT exclusively from Hasbro Pulse. It’s scheduled to arrive this Fall.
Pipeline Reveals and Teases
- Klatooinian Raider (meh)
- Artillery Stormtrooper (double meh)
- Luke from Mandalorian Season 2 (YES!)
- Dark Trooper (YES!!!)
The Hasbro team mentioned that the Dark Trooper would be part of a world building set. Hopefully, it will come single carded, as well. They also revealed that there will be a full Cantina Band/Modal Nodes pack at some point in the future.
Oh, and one more thing–Hasbro actually released a statement regarding Walmart preorders:
Recent Walmart Exclusives – Product Availability Update
Thank you to the Star Wars fan community and your support during Hasbro’s recent product launches. We wanted to share an update regarding the Walmart exclusives revealed last month. Additional quantities of STAR WARS THE VINTAGE COLLECTION 3.75-INCH IMPERIAL GUNNER, ARTOO-DETOO, STORMTROOPER, BESPIN SECURITY GUARD (HELDER SPINOZA) and BESPIN SECURITY GUARD (ISDAM EDIAN) Figures will be available in Walmart stores later this Fall.
I’m honestly just impressed that they dared to utter Walmart’s name this time rather than referring to a generic “preorder experience” that has seemingly no chance of ever improving.
Now let’s take a look at the Black Series offerings, which weren’t nearly as good, but still had some stuff worth considering.
Saw Gerrera
I’ve been highly critical of Hasbro’s “deluxe” figure selection/pricing, but this one feels a bit more justified than what we usually see. In addition to being based off a great character, the figure has a wonderful portrait and unique tooling. It’s still too expensive for my taste at $33.99 (especially with only two accessories), but at least the door is still open for me to give in and buy one.
Saw Gerrera will go up for preorder on on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 PM EDT. The figure is expected to arrive in Spring of 2023.
RC-1207 (Sev)
Yet another member of Delta Squad enters the Black Series toyline. Now we just need Scorch to complete the set.
The figure is part of the Gaming Greats subline and will be sold exclusively through GameStop. It will retail for $27.99 and be available for preorder on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 PM EDT with an expected arrival in Winter 2023 (!).
Infinites Darth Vader
This is a really deep cut from a Star Wars: Infinities story where Vader learns about Leia being a Skywalker and turns good, causing a Gandalf-like wardrobe change in the process.
If the figure was $20, it looks striking enough that I’d likely pick it up. At $27.99, though, it’s an easy pass. If you want one, it will be sold as a fan channel (online toy stores) exclusive and available for preorder on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 PM EDT. The figure is expected to arrive in Spring 2023.
Princess Leia Organa
As someone who reads Star Wars comics, I love how this figure looks despite it not being completely accurate to the source material–especially the facial portrait. It will retail for $27.99 and be available for preorder on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 PM EDT with an expected arrival in Spring 2023. It will also be fan channel (online toy stores) exclusive.
Sergeant Kreel
I’m one of the few Star Wars collectors who isn’t a huge fan of Stormtroopers, but this guy is a definite exception. If Hasbro is gonna charge $27.99, though, then it’s going to need to look more accurate than that.
The figure will be available for preorder on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 PM EDT with an expected arrival in Spring 2023. Like the last two, it will be a fan channel (online toy stores) exclusive.
Pipeline Reveals
- Grogu (don’t need another)
- Migs Mayfeld from The Mandalorian Season 1 (meh).
