‘Top Chef’ season 19 Power Rankings: Week 7

Top Chef takes on a Jurassic challenge.

Houston is the home of one of the largest Nigerian populations in the United States. Top Chef decided to pay homage to the cuisine of the African country in the quickfire. The guest judges, Ope Amosu and All-Star Kwame Onwuachi, tasked the contestants to create a dish that complements a swallow they chose at random. A swallow is a starch cooked down, usually boiled, until it is very tender. It is then used to dip in soups and stews.

For the elimination, there was some great corporate synergy by involving the upcoming Jurassic World Dominion. Leads, Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt, made an appearance via video to assign the challenge while actress DeWanda Wise served as guest judge. The chefs were divided into teams of three and needed to make a three-course progressive meal that showcased the lifestyle and diet of a specific dinosaur from the film: Mesosaurus (sea), Quetzalcoatlus (air), and Velociraptor (land).

Most of the movement this week in the Top Chef Power Rankings occurred in the bottom half of eligible contestants with the top four remaining the same.
