Hasbro Star Wars: Leak reveals Selfie Series figures and new HasLab project

Now you can be an overpriced Star Wars: Black Series action figure.

On Wednesday, some enterprising folks found some interesting information via the developer page for Hasbro Pulse. Lucky for us, the good people over at Jedi Temple Archives and Yakface were able to get plenty of screenshots and details before it was all taken down.

First up is the Selfie Series, which appears to be a toy line that will allow fans to have a 6″ figure featuring a portrait of their face. This will likely involve buyers sending Hasbro photos of their heads from various angles along with specifications about what costume they want to wear. No word on when these will be available, but the figures will retail for $59.99.

UPDATE: It appears the Selfie Series won’t just be limited to Star Wars. Other toyline customers will be able to have a custom portrait on include Marvel Legends, G.I. Joe, Power Rangers, and Ghostbusters.

The figures appear to be packaged in what could be the plastic-free boxes the Black Series might be using in the near future. I gotta admit, it’s not half as bad as I expected (and a whole lot better than the Marvel Legends plastic-free packaging).

Then we have the next Star Wars HasLab project, which will offer fans a chance to buy a high-end replica of Reva’s lightsaber for $500. The campaign begins on May 27 (the same day Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres) and will run until July 11th.

I’m as excited as anyone to see Reva, but I’m not sure doing a HasLab based on the equipment for a brand new character is such a good idea — especially when it costs $500. Unless that thing can actually turn me into a human helicopter, it’s nowhere near worth the price.

I hope I’m wrong, but this project is likely to meet the same fate as the Black Series Rancor.

Expect some official announcements/updates about these products to be released in the near future.
