Marvel Legends reveals surprising slate of new releases

It’s such an eclectic mix that you may temporarily forget about the price hikes.

On Wednesday, Hasbro’s Marvel Legends team held an Instagram livestream to show off some of their latest reveals. While most of the products shown at these events are fairly predictable, this one had a few that were completely out of left field–including one that folks have wanted for a while.

All of the following items are currently available for preorder. A few are also exclusives, but it actually makes sense this time, at least.

Mojoworld 4-pack

That’s right, fellow ’90s children. It may be as part of a set, but we’re finally getting a Marvel Legends Longshot. Thankfully, the set he comes in is pretty great, featuring Mojo, retro Dazzler, and an X-Babies Wolverine.

The pictures above are digital renders, but the products shown in the livestream looked fantastic.

Unfortunately, the whole set will run you $131.99, which is crazy. You could argue that the oversize Mojo justifies the price, but keep in mind that the X-Babies Wolverine is a static/slug figure.

If you still want the set, then it’s currently available for preorder exclusively from Hasbro Pulse with an expected arrival in December 2022.

Firelord

Old school Marvel fans will be thrilled to see this figure finally make his debut in the retro collection. If you’re one of the lucky people who’s got a HasLab Galactus on the way, then this wonderfully executed version of the character is a must-buy.

Firelord will retail for $24.99 as a fan channel exclusive (i.e. online toystores) with an expected arrival in January 2023.

Bombastic Bag-Man

It’s almost like Hasbro knows I purposefully cut back my budget for their figures after the recent round of price hikes. Now they’re tempting me with one of the best gag versions of my all-time favorite character. I love my 3.75″ scale version, but this one might be too good to pass up.

The Bombastic Bag-Man will retail for $24.99 exclusively from Target (bleh). It’s expected to arrive in stores (HA!) December 2022.

Japanese Spider-Man

A great-looking figure of my favorite character based on the live-action Spider-Man series that aired in Japan during the 1970s. Unfortunately, Hasbro also decided to raise the already overly inflated retail price on this one to $27.99.

They also went with the atrocious no-window packaging for this release. If an opener like me is growing sour on it, then I can’t imagine how you carded collectors feel by this point.

Japanese Spider-Man is available for preorder as a fan channel exclusive. It’s expected to arrive in January 2023.

Sharon Carter

Yeah…no. If Hasbro’s going to raise their figure prices faster than the already insane inflation rate, then the portrait work better be stellar. In this case, there’s not a person on earth who’d guess the figure is based on Emily VanCamp’s likeness without any context.

If you still need the Infinity Ultron BAF parts though, then you can preorder this one for $24.99 from most major retailers. It’s expected to arrive in stores March 2023.

War Machine

I’m not a huge fan of the character, but this is really nice version — especially with the accessories. Not enough to justify the $27.99 price tag, though.

War Machine is available for preorder as a fan channel exclusive with an expected arrival in December 2022.

Marvel Legends Retro 3.75″ Scale Sentinel

Remember when Hasbro had a thriving 3.75″ scale, super-articulated toyline instead of a 5 POS POA one that soaked up all those resources to sell vastly inferior figures at inflated prices?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

And no, I don’t care that this figure comes with a couple of cool accessories. Despite being 3.75″ scale, it stands around 6″ tall and is priced at $24.99. That means if you purchase one, you’re telling Hasbro that their already ridiculous retail price point for Marvel Legends is completely justified even for this hunk of barely moveable plastic.

You can obviously buy whatever you like, but adding this to your collection for full retail should at least make you consider never complaining about Hasbro’s price points again. If you still want one, then it’s currently available for preorder as a fan channel exclusive with an expected arrival in January 2023.
