Kentaro Miura’s horror-fantasy ‘Berserk’ to resume after volume 41

Kentaro Miura’s manga series ‘Berserk’ is to resume a year after his tragic death.

After the tragic death of Kentaro Miura, many assumed his manga series Berserk would end with its 41st volume. Today, manga publisher Young Animal has announced on Twitter that the manga would resume on June 24.

It was revealed in April that Kentaro Miura’s horror-fantasy Berserk would see its final volume come to the states this November. Miura passed away at 54 suddenly in May 2021 after suffering from an acute aortic dissection.

The series will continue based on various ideas and plans Miura told his assistants and fellow mangaka/close friend Kouji Mori, the latter of whom will supervise the production of the rest of the series.

The statement from Young Animal goes on to say Miura did not leave behind any rough drafts. Young Animal admits this isn’t the perfect way to continue the series, but “We believe that this policy, although imperfect, is the best way to deliver the Berserk that Mr. Miura envisioned to everyone as faithfully as possible.”

Berserk is a beloved manga series first started in 1989. The story follows a lone warrior named Guts who has a fierce reputation for his fighting skills and is forced to join a mercenary group named the Band of the Hawk by its leader Griffith.

Berserk Volume 41 will be available in America on November 15th and is published by Dark Horse.

So what’s Berserk Volume 41 about?

Though released from the prison of her mind, Casca cannot escape reminders of the terrors she has experienced. And nothing triggers these harrowing memories more than Guts the Black Swordsman, who faced those same horrors in his relentless quest to see Casca healed. But could the reappearance of a strange, mute boy be the key to bringing peace to Casca’s troubled soul?
