Channel Surfing: Awesome TV picks for the week of 06/27/2022

Our Channel Surfing TV picks include mystery, a helpful robot, and scares.

Time to get ready for an all-new selection of our Channel Surfing TV picks. Prepare for more mystery and podcasts in a new season of Only Murders in the Building. Follow along on the adventures of an adorable robot in Baymax!. Then, see what’s next for the crew in part two of Stranger Things 4.

Becoming the Subject

Only Murders in the Building poked fun at the rising popularity of true crime podcasts as its Big Three of Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez came together to solve a murder mystery within their apartment building. Though they brought the killer to justice, they soon discover that crime doesn’t sleep in the Arconia.

When we last left the series, Gomez’s Mabel found a stabbed to death Bunny, the building’s board president, in her apartment. It looks like our trio have another case, this time with bigger stakes. If they can’t find the culprit, it might mean jail time for them.

The first two episodes of Only Murders in the Building season two will be released Tuesday, June 28, on Hulu.

A Healing Touch

It could be argued that the break out star of both the Big Hero 6 film and series is the inflatable and rotund companion of Hiro Hamada. The robot returns to headline his own show as he sets out for more hijinks in San Fransokyo.

This time around, Baymax will be ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in the city that needs it. In the six-episode season, he heads out on various healthcare capers that introduce him to a number of colorful citizens who need his unique brand of healing.

Baymax! debuts on Wednesday, June 29, on Disney+.

It Might Not Work This Time

When the fourth season of Stranger Things was announced, many fans were disappointed to hear that it would be divided into two volumes. After all, we waited almost three years for a new season and we couldn’t binge it in its entirety in one sitting. Luckily, it was a short delay between volumes since the series is set to return this week.

The group in Hawkins are making plans both in our world and the Upside Down as the big bad, Vecna, looks to make some devious moves. Meanwhile, can Hopper make it back stateside in one piece and can Eleven arrive in time to save her friends?

We’ll see when Stranger Things 4 volume 2 will be released on Friday, July 1, on Netflix.
