The classic toy-inspired film has generated publicity in recent months due to the photographs that have been released or leaked. Photos of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken circulated on the internet as differing opinions emerged.

While the exact details of the plot are still unclear, the cast sure does seem to be having a blast. Robbie sports classic Barbie doll-style clothing while driving a bright pink convertible.

Gosling is shown with an opened denim jacket that exposes his toned body. He’s also wearing boxers that have the word “Ken” on the waistband, which was a source of comedy amongst Twitterland.

The two have also been seen on set together, and both dressed up in Barbie-style cowboy and cowgirl outfits.

And while the tone and approach remain unknown, it’s pretty evident there will be a decent amount of comedy given that two supporting cast members are Will Ferrell and SNL alum Kate McKinnon. This will be Robbie’s second film with McKinnon. The two acted alongside one another in 2019’s Bombshell.

Barbie is set to be released nationwide on July 21st, 2023.
