On Tuesday evening, Universal released a slightly NSFW trailer for Halloween Ends, the third and final part of director David Gordon Green’s Halloween Trilogy.
Although it doesn’t reveal much, we do get confirmation that Laurie Strode will actually face off against Michael this time (instead of being stuck inside a hospital almost the entire time).
All snark aside, this film looks primed to recapture at least some of the brilliance we got in 2018’s Halloween. Unlike the last sequel (which I think we’d all rather forget), this one won’t take place immediately after the events of its predecessor. Instead, this installment made the wise decision to jump forward four years. That should give Laurie plenty of time to recover and be in fighting shape for her final showdown with Michael Myers.
Here’s Universal’s official synopsis for the film:
Four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills, Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and is finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all.
Halloween Ends is set to debut in theaters on October 14, 2022.
