The online cosplay community has joined together to recreate the iconic Marvel Swimsuit Issues from the ’90s. Curated and produced by House of X Podcast co-host Warpath_Dylan and Michelle Waffle of the Power of X-Men Community, the special digital digest is available for free to anyone with an internet connection. Summer is not over yet! Check out some selections from the collection of cosplayers featured in the Summer of X special below.

Cosplayer @realamandalynne as Marvel Girl
When asked what inspired them to create this endeavor, the duo states how, “in the 90’s Marvel used to publish Summer Swim Specials of our favorite characters drawn by contemporary artists. These special editions had our heroes enjoying water based vacation spots solo or with significant others. We wanted to tap into that same summer vibe and bring those shots to life. Inspired by the art collaboration in 2020 by @x_cerpts on instagram, we brought together cosplayers across the country in our cosplay community to put their own artistic interpretation of what the Marvel Swim Special might look like in real life with a mutant theme.”

Cosplayer @carolinecosplay as Psylocke
Cosplaying is considered one of the most fun ways to express one’s fandom for a certain character or property. Cosplayers can be seen all over the world at conventions, festivals, events, and more. Even Marvel Studios has adopted a method of inviting cosplayers to be on the red carpets of their World Premieres to interact with the actors and creators. I myself am a cosplayer and was lucky enough to be asked to be a part of Summer of X. You can see me as Longshot below alongside Michelle Waffle as Dazzler. If you’ve ever been curious about cosplay, talk to any of these folks on Instagram or walk up to them at an event and you’ll soon learn how welcoming the cosplay community can be.
