Everything we know about Venom’s identity changes in ‘Venom’ #10

The time travel of Venom continues in ‘Venom’ #10, and a major revelation is revealed.

Spoilers ahead for Venom #10. You’ve been warned. For more on Venom #10, read our review.

Venom is a character that has gone through a lot of changes in the last ten years. Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman gave him a son, made him the King in Black, and introduced the idea of a king of Symbiotes itself. Ram V and Al Ewing have taken it up a notch, with the first issue revealing Eddie’s been getting worn down, sending his mind across the cosmos to run a Symbiote army. Then he lost his body and seemingly died.

That story thread continues in Venom #10 this week, as Eddie Brock’s mind is somehow stuck in some kind of Symbiote timestream. New details emerge bout the time stream, but also the mysterious Symbiotes that live at the end of time in the Garden of Time. One of those Symbiotes, who seems to be in control, is Meridius.

Meridius explains a lot of what is going on in this issue–I recommend reading it in full to fully grasp the scope–and in a key scene, he shows Eddie Brock what is going on.

This isn’t quite clear enough for Eddie, but you might notice he says, “I did this” and “just as I was.”

It turns out, Meridius and the other Symbiotes in the Garden of Time are all, in fact, Eddie Brock. Meridius explains the Garden of Time has 7 spiral paths, and Meridius is allowed to walk all the roads that run through them. He is the inevitable form of Eddie Brock and thus in full control.

As we saw in Venom #5 (depicted below), there are six Symbiotes living in the Garden of Time. They all have names which include Bedlam, Wilde, Tyro, Finnegan, Eddie, and Meridius.

But, as Venom #10 comes to a close, a significant detail is still yet revealed. Who is the seventh Symbiote? As Meridius points out, there are seven paths. Could the seventh Symbiote be the way Eddie regains control of everything? Can Eddie change things when he’s dealing with Symbiotes unstuck from time and Meridius, who seems to be from the far future? I guess we’ll have to read Venom #11 to find out!

Once again, Venom #10 is out in comic shops today, I recommend reading the entire issue!
