Saraya fka Paige debuts at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam

The inaugural NXT Women’s Champion is now All Elite!

Saraya, formerly known as Paige in WWE, made a surprise debut at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam following the four-way match for the AEW Interim Women’s World Championship. Saraya celebrated with her fellow WWE alums Athena and Toni Storm after the latter successfully defended her championship.

Saraya, as Paige, was one of the pillars of the “Women’s Revolution” within WWE that shifted focus in the women’s division from sex appeal to in-ring competition. She was the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion and won the WWE Divas Championship on her first night on the main roster in 2014.

Saraya left WWE on July 7th of this year after suffering an injury in later 2017 that forced her to announce her retirement in 2018. After that, she acted as the SmackDown General Manager for a short period of time before being taken off television.

It is unknown at this time whether or not Saraya has been cleared for in-ring competition, but it is not impossible, as wrestlers such as Bryan Danielson, Edge, and even “Stone Cold” Steve Austin have come back from similar neck injuries to return to the ring.
