On Tuesday, Aaron Couch of the Hollywood Reporter revealed that Disney has shuffled a number of its Phase 5 studio films.
While this sort of thing happened quite a bit during the COVID-19 lockdowns, it appears the most recent schedule changes are due to Blade losing its director, Bassam Tarique, a couple of weeks ago. At this time, Disney is still looking for a replacement. Meanwhile, Blade‘s release date has been pushed from November 3, 2023 to September 6, 2024.
Here are the other Marvel Cinematic Universe projects that will be showing up in theaters later than expected:
- Deadpool 3 will move from September 6, 2024 (Blade‘s new spot) to November 8, 2024.
- Fantastic Four will move from November 8, 2024 (Deadpool 3‘s new spot) to February 14, 2025.
- Avengers: Secret War will move from November 7, 2025 to May 1, 2026. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will keep its May 2, 2025 release, putting a bit more space between the two Avengers films.
Depending on cast availability, potential filming issues, and narrative/sequencing considerations, there’s a decent chance that more Marvel Studios projects will be shifted in the months ahead.
Couch’s report also states that Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has been set for release on May 24, 2024.
