DC Comics adds Jim Lee ‘Batman/Spawn’ cover to impressive variant cover lineup

Feast your eyes on newly revealed Jim Lee ‘Batman/Spawn’ variant cover.

DC Comics has released another variant cover to Batman/Spawn, and it’s by none other than comics legend Jim Lee. Batman/Spawn #1 is a new one-shot out on December 14th. The one-shot is also joined by a new classic collection trade paperback recounting the first two times the two characters crossed paths. The new cover reveal comes right in time for AIPT’s interview with Batman/Spawn creators Greg Capullo and Todd McFarlane.

The cover is joined by a bevy of incredible artists supplying variant covers, including Jorge Jimenez, Greg Capullo, Gabrial Dell Otto, J. Scott Campbell, Sean Murphy, Jason Fabok, Francesco Mattina, and more.

At NYCC, McFarlane had this to say about the project: “We just want to create one of those books for the collectors today, where they go, ‘remember when that came out?”. He also compared it to The Dark Knight Returns, visually thanks to Capullo’s impeccable work. McFarlane said Capullo is the best Spawn artist ever and the best Batman artist of a generation. “You’re just trying to make my bald head turn red,” Capullo replied. Capullo also added this is their best work together ever.

So what’s Batman Spawn #1 about?

Two dark heroes, cursed by tragedy, find their paths crossing again…but not by choice! What sinister foe is at work, pitting the Dark Knight against the Hellspawn? From the shadows of Gotham City to New York City, this epic event is the blockbuster you’ve been waiting almost two decades for!
