Celebrate making it to Friday with our look back at the best comics of the week.

We made it to Friday, readers! Of course, that means it’s time to look back at the best single-issue comics of the week based on AIPT’s ratings. Let’s get right to ’em!

#5: Batman vs. Robin #3

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of November 9, 2022

Listen to the latest episode of our weekly comics podcast!

Ultimately, Batman vs. Robin #3 is at its best when exploring Bruce Wayne’s relationships with each of his Robins. Although Mahmud Asrar’s, Scott Godlewski’s, and Jordie Bellaire’s dynamic action sequences are a huge selling point for this issue, Mark Waid’s scripting elevates each sequence beyond a traditional battle of fisticuffs. By forcing our hero to face his impact on each young hero, Waid adds depth to the Dark Knight Detective.

#4: Billionaire Island: Cult of Dogs #1

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of November 9, 2022

Billionaire Island: Cult of Dogs builds on the success of the original series. With Mark Russell and Steve Pugh’s name on the cover it’s worth reading; being the continuation of the fantastic Billionaire Island from 2020 makes it a must buy.

#3: Sabretooth & the Exiles #1

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of November 9, 2022

Sabretooth & the Exiles is an excellent issue that improves upon what came before it. Not only does it set up Orchis–one of the main mutant villains right now–in an impressive way so that you genuinely hate everything about them, but it gets the team dynamic written for the motley crew of mutant rejects. Sabretooth & the Exiles validates the villains to rise up and fight, which is a pleasure to read.

This anniversary special is the perfect celebration, revisiting and adding to one of the biggest stories in comics. This issue will awaken your inner child and bring back the wonder, excitement, and drama you experienced the day Superman died.
