Our Channel Surfing TV picks have male exotic dancers, an eccentric family, and cosmic superheroes. Meet the man behind a male-stripping empire in Welcome to Chippendales. An Unlikely Founder
Chippendales was a ground breaking brand in the late 70s and 80s. It featured the first all-male stripping dance troupe that catered mostly to female audiences. The performers were best known to dance with a bare torso except for a collar, bowtie, and shirt cuffs.
The upcoming Welcome to Chippendales explores the person who started it all. Somen “Steve” Banerjee was an Indian immigrant and entrepreneur. He turned a failing West Los Angeles bar into a phenomenon earning wealth in the process. However, he was a ruthless businessman and didn’t shy away from crime to maintain his empire.
The first two episodes of Welcome to Chippendales will be released Tuesday, November 22, on Hulu.
They’re Creepy and They’re Kooky
Tim Burton is known for his projects that combine twisted humor and gothic horror fantasy. That’s why fans became excited when it was announced he would be working with the Addams Family property because it seemed like his sensibilities were a good match.
In Wednesday, the titular character attends Nevermore Academy, where even for a school for outcasts, she stands out. While on campus, she he has weird feeling and vows to uncover all of its secrets.
Binge the first season of Wednesday starting, appropriately enough, Wednesday, November 23, on Netflix.
A Holiday Out of this World
James Gunn might be the ne co-architect of the DCEU now, but at least we still have a few of his Marvel related projects coming out. To tide us over before the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, we’ll see the cosmic superhero team in an all-new holiday special.
Peter Quill is still coping with the loss of Gamora so the rest of the gang want to find the perfect present on Earth to make their leader’s Christmas memorable. Their hare-brained plan involves Footloose star and famous entertainer, Kevin Bacon.
Watch The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special beginning Friday, November 25, on Disney+.
