On Tuesday, Hasbro provided a smattering of new Vintage Collection and Black Series reveals for StarWars.com’s Bring Home the Galaxy campaign. Let’s take a look at the Vintage Collection offerings first.
Boba Fett (Vintage Comic Art Edition)
Maybe it’s the Christmasy feel or the fact I was born in the ’70s, but I’m totally digging that color scheme. If the figure didn’t have the “Boba Debt” retail price point of $20.99, I’d probably buy it.
If you want one, however, the figure will be available for preorder on Wednesday, December 1 exclusively from Target. It is expected to arrive in Spring 2023.
Boba Fett (Comic Art Edition)
This one also looks pretty cool. Unfortunately, it also costs $20.99.
The figure will be available for preorder on Wednesday, December 1 exclusively from Target. It is expected to arrive in Spring 2023.
ARC Commander Blitz
Hasbro’s recent price gouging strategy must be working because I saw the $16.99 price point for Arc Commander Blitz and immediately considered making an impulse purchase.
Thankfully, this one’s a Walmart exclusive, so there’s no way I’m going through that hassle. You can, however, when the figure goes up for preorder tomorrow at 1:00 PM EST. It’s expected to arrive Spring 2023.
Now let’s take a look at the Black Series offerings.
RC-1262 (Scorch)
While it’s great to get the Delta Squad, it’s a shame Hasbro decided to go with these undersized bodies for them — especially when they’re all Game Stop exclusives that retail for $27.99.
The figure will be available for preorder on December 14 at 1:00 PM EST with an expected arrival in Spring 2023.
Black Series Gamorrean Guard
While this is a great figure (especially for the celebration of Return of the Jedi‘s 40th Anniversary), it’s still a repack that retails for $33.99.
It will be available for preorder on December 14 at 1:00 PM EST with an expected arrival in Spring 2023.
So as expected, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks continues his plan to squeeze existing customers in an effort to raise Hasbro’s profits by 50% over the next three years. The result has been Hasbro’s stock price tanking and collectors throwing up their hands in disgust.
Luckily, there may be a partial solution to our purchasing woes:
Step 1: Follow Preternia (@preterniadotcom) on Twitter
If you are a toy collector who isn’t following this account, then you are missing out. If promo images and information on a product are out there, it’s showing up on Preternia’s feed.
Step 2: Wait for Hasbro and/or their retail parters to get desperate to unload stock that won’t sell.
Just a few months ago, a great Black Series figure of Figrin D’An was revealed. Unfortunately, it retailed for $24.99.
Yesterday, however, Preternia alerted collectors that Amazon was selling the Black Series Figrin D’an and a few others for only $10 along with
Some cheap Star Wars Black on Amazon as well ($9.99 each):

I know that “waiting for clearance” doesn’t sound like a revolutionary idea, but keep in mind that these figures were just revealed a few months ago. The fact that Amazon has marked them down so much (especially during the holidays) is a bad sign…if you’re a company that has gone all in on price gouging.
If you’re a consumer, it might be enough to help you buy a few more figures this holiday season.
