On Thursday, Justin Kroll of Deadline.com exclusively revealed that Ayo Edebiri has been cast in the upcoming Thunderbolts movie from Marvel Studios.
Most folks will likely recognize Edebiri as Sydney Adamu on The Bear (unless you’re a former restaurant worker who’s terrified you’ll experience PTSD if you watch the series). She’s also a stand up comedian and an award-winning TV writer, whose credits include What We Do in Shadows and Big Mouth (where she also voices Missy Foreman-Greenwald).

As for what role Edebiri will play, that remains to be seen. Even though you can take a report from Deadline to the bank, this one was still unofficial, meaning that Disney and Marvel Studios aren’t going to confirm it until they’re good and ready…which is a bit strange since so much of the cast and the characters they’re playing has already been revealed.
Does Disney’s tight-lipped response mean that Edebiri will end up playing the film’s primary antagonist? Let’s hope we find out soon.
Thunderbolts is scheduled to debut in theaters July 26, 2024.
