WATCH: First trailer for Stephen King film adaptation, ‘The Boogeyman’

The film creeps out from under our beds on June 2.

Back in 1978 (before even I was born) Stephen King release a collection of new and previously published short stories entitled Night Shift. Even with all the fantastic and horrifying tales the prolific author has written since then, it’s still considered by many fans to be his best collection to date. It has also been the source of multiple film/television adaptations of King’s work, including Children of the Corn and The Lawnmower Man.

On Sunday, 20th Century Studios released the first trailer for an adaptation of The Boogeyman.

First off, yes, I did hold my phone away from me during that scene under the bed. Laugh at me all you want, but I’ve read the short story this was based on and have a newborn at home. You better believe I’ll be checking my little boy’s crib a few extra times this evening.

Speaking of the short story, fellow fans will no doubt wonder if things are going to play out the way they do on the page. If so, then this is one of the rare times when a film’s trailer did a masterful job of keeping some major plot twists under wraps.

Either way, The Boogeyman looks like a scary good time.

The Boogeyman is scheduled to release in theaters on June 2.
