Channel Surfing: Awesome TV picks for the week of 02/06/2023

We have a super selection for our Channel Surfing TV picks.

We have a super selection for our Channel Surfing TV picks. We begin the march towards the end of an era with the ninth season of The Flash. Love, and most likely trouble, is in the air in Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special. Then, the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles collide in Super Bowl LVII.

Saying Goodbye to the Arrowverse

What began as the first spinoff of Arrow is now the last show standing in the beloved shared superhero television universe. The Flash not only must conclude the series itself during its final season, but also the superhero media franchise as a whole.

Season nine takes place one week after the titular character defeated the Reverse Flash once and for all. Barry and Iris are trying to move forward in their complicated relationship and reconnect to grow closer together. However, once again threats to Central City arise, and The Flash and his team must confront them to save the day. Look forward to many familiar faces returning including Stephen Amell, Keiynan Lonsdale, David Ramsey, and more.

Season nine of The Flash begins Wednesday, February 8, on The CW.

The Best VD Ever

The MCU has recently been dabbling in holiday specials. We received Werewolf by Night last Halloween followed by a Christmas adventure featuring the Guardians of the Galaxy. DC won’t let them have all the fun with their upcoming Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special.

Harley and Ivy are celebrating their first Valentine’s Day together and the former is going to great lengths to make it a perfect and special occasion. Their day goes pretty well but it seems they spread the love too well affecting the entire city. Elsewhere, Bane’s attempts to impress his date go horribly wrong and after a terrible date, Clayface turns to some self-love.

Stream Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special beginning Thursday, February 9. on HBO Max.

The Ultimate Game on the Gridiron

When you think of event television, nothing is bigger than the Super Bowl. This century, almost 100 million viewers tune in to watch the NFL championship game every year. Even if your team isn’t playing, there is still plenty of reasons to watch.

You won’t want to take a bathroom break during the commercials. During the Super Bowl the advertisements try to be funny and memorable to not only promote a product but also create water cooler talk the next day. Studios also use the opportunity to reveal trailers for their upcoming highly anticipated films. Then, the half time show is always a spectacle. Can Rihanna outdo Dr. Dre and company’s epic homage to Los Angeles from last year? We’ll have to wait and see.

Super Bowl LVII will air Sunday, February 12, on Fox.
