‘Top Chef’ season 20 Power Rankings: Week 5

Top Chef heads out to the countryside for a family meal.

Top Chef returned for another week with one less contestant. The grind continued as they all prepared for more challenges. On the bright side, it meant they were one step closer to winning the titular honor and the prizes and accolades that come along with it.

Michelin starred chef, Adam Handling, came into the Top Chef kitchen to serve as the guest judge for the quickfire. He and Padma discussed how mead was considered the nectar of the gods and one of the oldest alcoholic beverages. They then tasked the competitors to create a celebratory dish featuring mead and honey in 30 minutes.

The contestants then took a trip to the countryside of Kent for a little getaway. Of course they weren’t heading out there for rest and recreation. For the elimination challenge, they had to create a dish inspired by their favorite holiday. You can’t have holidays without thinking about family gatherings.

Fittingly, the food would be served family style so they all had to ensure their dishes made a complete meal, and they had to share the budget of £1,000. Despite all the love and camaraderie, there could only be one winner. That person would receive a stay in a vacation home anywhere in the world up to $10,000 complements of Vrbo.

Guest judge Martha Ortiz from Top Chef: Mexico helped select the top and least favorite dish. With another competitor gone and Last Chance Kitchen, there were definitely some movers and shakers. Let’s check out this week’s Power Rankings.
