Channel Surfing: Awesome TV picks for the week of 04/10/2023

Our newest Channel Surfing TV picks have superheroes, comedy, and drama.

Our newest Channel Surfing TV picks have superheroes, comedy, and drama. Titans returns and continues its march to the series finale. Ashley and Miles still find problems managing their family under unconventional circumstances in Blindspotting season two. Then, the titular character adjusts to life behind bars in Barry season four.

The Return of a Demon?

It’s been a wild ride on Titans, with bringing the team together, facing Deathstroke, and then heading out to Gotham. We’ve had members come and go, but the group is still trying its best to save the world. Now, the series is concluding as we enter the back half of season four.

When we last left off, the Titans were unable to stop the Blood Moon ritual with Sebastian and he causes them all to disappear. Now they must find their foe along with Mother Mayhem to prevent them from summoning Trigon. Meanwhile, Gar finds himself all alone embarking on a journey of self-discovery to determine his purpose and save his friends.

Stream episodes seven and eight from the fourth season of Titans beginning Thursday, April 13, on HBO Max.

Counting Off the Days

Blindspotting is a spin-off series of the film with the same name from Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs. The story follows Ashley, whose life is turned upside down when her partner and father of their son, Miles, is sent to prison. She soon finds herself struggling to make ends meet and decides to move in with Miles’ mother and half-sister.

The events take place nine months after the season one finale where Ashley and Miles got married. Being a single parent is still tough, and Ashley begins to take out her frustrations on those closest to her orbit. Meanwhile, Miles is getting more settled while living on the inside, and one of the few things keeping him going is the upcoming family visitation weekend.

The first two episodes from season two of Blindspotting will air linearly Friday, April 14, on Starz.

Irredeemable

Barry has a lot in common with our other two Channel Surfing TV picks. Like Titans, it’s entering its fourth and final season, and at least for some part, it will explore life behind bars similar to Blindspotting. It seems the titular character’s previous life has caught up to him and we’ll soon find out what’s next.

Gene, Barry’s acting coach, is partially responsible for the arrest of his pupil. Though he is hailed as a hero, Gene will have to face the music for his actions eventually. Things are going to get a lot more tense and more hilarious as the show wants to go out with a bang.

The two-episode season four premiere of Barry will air Sunday, April 16, on HBO.
