‘Top Chef’ season 20 Power Rankings: Week 7

Top Chef gets playful this week with challenges featuring emojis and food you eat without utensils.

The contestants decompress from the previous episode’s events, but they don’t have too much time until they move on to the next Top Chef Challenges. As they all enter the kitchen, this week’s guest suggests a more playful and unconventional time

Standing alongside Padma is famous Indian chef who is described as a food rebel, Gaggan Anand. He is known for his unique cooking style and thinking outside the box. For example, there was a time he made an entire menu consisting solely of emojis. Anand tasked the competitors to choose one emoji and create a dish inspired by their selection for the quickfire. This would be one of the challenges they could have fun with. They all had 30 minutes to cook their dish and the winner would earn immunity.

Anand played double duty as he was involved in the elimination challenge as well. First, he served all the chefs a dish from his 25-course menu entitled “Rainbow World.” It was as beautiful as it was delicious filled with color and flavor. The only catch was they could not use their hands to eat it, but lick it off of the plate.

Similarly, the contestants had to make a dish that sends a message, is visually stunning, and could be eaten without any utensils. With such a revered person in the industry serving as the guest judge, they all wanted to make great impression.

With a new winner, another eliminated chef, and Last Chance Kitchen starting up again, the Top Chef Power Rankings saw some changes.
