Gabri and Buddha breathed a huge sigh of relief on Top Chef this week. Previously, both had narrowly avoided elimination when they landed in the bottom. They and the other contestants needed to get their heads back into the game since the competition doesn’t stop.
During the quickfire, Padma greeted the top six in the kitchen alongside two Michelin star chef, Andrew Wong. They spoke about how water conversation is important for the planet, to them, and for sponsor Finish, known for their dishwasher detergent. For this challenge, they had to prepare a steamed dish, but had to share one gallon of water between them for cooking. The winner received $10,000 and a charitable donation in their name to the World Wildlife Fund.
The elimination would be the final team challenge of the Top Chef season, and the competitors drew knives to form groups of two. Beef Wellington is one of the most-well known British dishes. The competitors had to create three Wellington dishes — one with seafood, one with meat, and one with dessert – to serve the judges and 25 additional diners. Two Michelin star chef Kirk Westaway would serve as guest judge. If the stakes weren’t already high, this would be a double elimination.
Though two contestants were eliminated, one more would return via Last Chance Kitchen. Despite the title of the web episode indicating a winner would be crowned, we’ll have to wait until next week to see who.
Here are how everyone stacks up in our Top Chef Power Rankings after week 11.
