[Tribeca ’23] What’s coming to the Tribeca Festival

What’s coming to Tribeca this year?

Tribeca Festival returns with a line up that includes Paul McCartney appearing on Conan O’Brien’s podcast Conan Needs a Friend, critically acclaimed directors including David Fincher, and cast reunions for New Jack City, Wild Style, and How Stella Got Her Groove Back. But the core of the festival program is the slate of feature films. Below are some of the movies we are looking forward to.

Bad Things

[Tribeca '23] What's coming to the Tribeca Festival

Snowy weekend getaways can go only one of two ways in cinema: sometimes a person finds love in unexpected places; Bad Things goes in the other direction. A group of friends take a trip to the Northeast in order to reconnect, relax, and recuperate. Literal ghosts of the past soon come transforming their trip into a bloody nightmare.

First Time Female Director

[Tribeca '23] What's coming to the Tribeca Festival

Chelsea Peretti makes her directorial debut while also producing, directing, and starring in this star-studded ensemble comedy. When the theater’s director is fired for inappropriate behavior, Sam (Peretti) takes over the position. Her dreams to stage a rural drama in the South are met with a bevy of issues that threaten her plans. A strong cast and surprise cameos make this comedy one of the most interesting screenings at Tribeca.

I.S.S.

[Tribeca '23] What's coming to the Tribeca Festival

I.S.S. is a space thriller about two crews of scientists conducting research towards the betterment of society. Soon, international tensions on Earth escalate as all aboard the International Space Station receive little information about what has happened. But they are all given the same order: take control of the station at any cost.

Maggie Moore(s)

[Tribeca '23] What's coming to the Tribeca Festival

In a bizarre series of events, two women with the same name are murdered just days apart. Police chief Jordan Sanders is determined to solve the mystery of the murders while simultaneously grappling with the challenges of his tumultuous personal life. Starring Jon Hamm (Mad Men) and Tina Fey (30 Rock), the film is a mix of crime, humor, and romance.

Somewhere Quiet

[Tribeca '23] What's coming to the Tribeca Festival

Meg (Jennifer Kim, She Dies Tomorrow) is trying to readjust to normal life after recently being involved in a heinous abduction. To recenter herself, she takes a trip upstate with her husband Scott (Kentucker Audley, Strawberry Mansion) to stay at his wealthy family’s countryside compound. When Scott’s upper class cousin Madeline (Marin Ireland, The Dark and the Wicked) arrives it leads to ever tightening tension and unease as Meg comes to term with the truth behind her kidnapping.

Suitable Flesh

[Tribeca '23] What's coming to the Tribeca Festival

Erotic thriller, cosmic terror, and body horror all come together in this story about a psychiatrist who murders one of her patients. In an attempt to clear her name, Elizabeth Derby recounts a tale sexual madness, supernatural horror, and homicidal rage. Fans of Re-Animator need to make it a point to check this out.

You’ll Never Find Me

[Tribeca '23] What's coming to the Tribeca Festival

Making its world premiere in the Midnight section of Tribeca Festival, this Australian import takes place in a violent rain storm. A young woman knocks at a stranger’s door in an RV park looking for shelter and comfort. What seems at first like care and concern soon becomes a source of paranoia. The uncertainty mounts leading to a deadly and bizarre showdown.

Tribeca Festival takes place June 7 -18. All films and event can be found HERE
