Final ‘Ahsoka’ trailer hints at major revelations about Sabine Wren

The new ‘Ahsoka’ trailer makes us wonder, is Sabine force sensitive?

Today, Disney+ released a new trailer for Ahsoka, which will have a 2-episode premiere on August 23. Instead of simply recycling old footage from the previous teaser, this trailer provides a ton of new stuff to take in — including a potentially major implication about Sabine Wren.

Let’s take one more look before diving into the highlights:

  • As most of us assumed, the dark side Force users Shin Hati and Baylan Skoll are directly aligned with Morgan Elsbeth in working toward Grand Admiral Thrawn‘s return.
  • Baylon Skoll has no issue brutally killing New Republic soldiers while reminding them he is not a Jedi (and now I’m sad all over again about Ray Stevenson’s passing).
  • Much like Carson Teva, General Hera Syndulla is desperately trying to explain to the New Republic government how dire things could get if Thrawn starts rebuilding the Empire.
  • Ahsoka tells Hera about “walking away” from Sabine. Considering how the pair went off together to find Ezra Bridger at the end of Rebels (right after Return of the Jedi), this could refer to the mission to find their friend. However, as we’ll see in a bit, there’s likely a lot more behind that statement.

  • Following a badass shot of Sabine on a speeder bike, she pointedly tells Ahsoka that she never made things easy before calling her “master.”
  • Sabine watches a hologram of Ezra. We’ve seen a glimpse of this moment before, but this time it includes audio of Ezra talking about the difficult decisions a Jedi has to make while Sabine cuts her hair (and ends up looking a lot more like she did in Rebels).

  • A great shot of Sabine showing the personality we know and love from Rebels. Natasha Liu Bordizzo is going to be fantastic in this role.
  • Some beautiful footage of Ahsoka’s T-6 shuttle in a dogfight.
  • The leaked photo/footage of Admiral Thrawn finally makes its way to everyone.

  • Sabine struggles in a lightsaber duel with Shin Hati, who taunts her by declaring that she has “no power.”
  • Before the footage of the Baylon/Ahsoka duel we’ve seen before, Baylan informs Ahsoka that Anakin spoke highly of her.
  • More awesome fight footage, including a nice look at the currently unidentified Inquisitor who will duel with Ahsoka. I don’t think the character will end up being Barriss Offee, but one can dream…

So clearly, Ahsoka trained Sabine at some point. It may have simply been a matter of showing her lightsaber techniques (much like Kanan Jarrus did for Sabine with the Dark Saber), but the trailer heavily implies that Sabine was also being trained as a Jedi — especially if the context of Ezra’s hologram isn’t just a case of trailer misdirection.

Whatever the case, August 23 can’t get here soon enough.
