Full Moon Features has been an important part of the horror landscape for decades. Puppet Master, Evil Bong, and Gingerdead Man are just some of the names attached to the company. The Primevals is a Fantasia Film Festival world premiere that will fit perfectly in the studio’s catalogue. Set in the Himalayas, the film follows a group looking to track down the famed abominable snowman, but finding something much worse.
The Primevals has a the type of heartwarming production history not usually associated with B-horror movies. Director David Allen began work on the movie in the 1970s. It was a labor of love that was never completed due to Allen’s death from cancer in 1999. Full Moon CEO and founder Charles Band along with longtime Allen associate Chris Endicott have seen the film to completion.
Full Moon continues to release movies that are important for the genre. Horror needs to have silly entertaining fluff. The genre has never shied away from taking on topical social issues, but it is also defined by the films that are as fun as they are scary. The Primevals looks to be another good time that provides old school screams.
The Fantasia International Film Festival takes place from July 20 – August 9. Fantasia, news, tickets, and films can be found HERE
