Welcome back to another edition of Fantastic Five! This week’s best comics of the week include three #1s, a spectacular followup in a Knight Terrors tie-in, and the latest in a beloved series. One of these even earned a perfect 10! Let’s take a look at the books:
#5: The Sacrificers #1
The Sacrificers #1 delivers a unique fantasy world as well as the kind of high-concept character work fans have come to expect from Rick Remender. Yes it might leave you with questions, but it’ll also have you patiently awaiting the next issue for answers.

#4: Peacemaker Tries Hard! #4
Ultimately, Peacemaker Tries Hard! #4 is the most fun I’ve had reading a comic in quite some time. Kyle Starks’ script is pitch-perfect, using a masterful handling of each character’s personality to add variety to each joke and punchline. All this would be impossible without Steve Pugh’s artwork, Jordie Bellaire’s colors, and Becca Carey’s letters. The trio perfectly conveys the visual aspect of each gag. Additionally, the creative team perfectly captures the cinematic nature of each action sequence. The result is an absolute knockout that demands a read by fans of Christopher Smith.

#3: The Sandman Universe Special: Thessaly #1
The Sandman Universe Special: Thessaly is a love letter to prose, screenwriting, and storytelling. It’s also a pretty good story about a witch who has lived for centuries. This is a story about belonging, and yet Thessaly learns from a woman who belongs to no one and she is far worse off. Rich and narratively compelling, don’t pass on this one!

#2: Knight Terrors: The Joker #2
I had so much fun reading Knight Terrors: The Joker #2. It’s a delight and tops the first issue with entertaining scenes and an interesting character study. This proves the event is a great way of exploring various characters in unique ways.

#1: Magneto #1
Many flashback issues suffer from a lack of purpose, but Magneto embraces the opportunity to delve deep into a well-planned premise. It’s hard to get Magneto wrong, but jumping back into his Headmaster era was a brilliant decision. Anyone who loves Magneto, the New Mutants, or both will adore this issue. It is absolutely worth picking up.
