Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time is a huge undertaking. The main series spans fourteen books and is filled with rich lore and deep characters. Adapting it as a television series is something fans have longed for but also worried about due to its complexity.
The first season did a good job of alleviating those worries. Filled with the adventure, humor, and terror that Robert Jordan’s book’s capture, the initial eight episodes brought the world of The Wheel of Time to life. Long time readers could rest easy and new audiences had an interesting new world to learn about.
The Wheel of Time follows a woman named Moiraine (Rosamund Pike, Gone Girl), a member of a powerful group called Aes Sedai. The organization consists entirely of women who can wield the One Power. She is on a mission to find the Dragon Reborn – a person prophesied to save the world or break it.
The second season continues to follow the adventure of Moraine and a group of five young villagers from the secluded Two Rivers. After the events of the first season, The Dark One is now free and Moraine is looking for Rand, who for his part has gone into hiding. There are new dangers and no one can be trusted.
The opening scene of season two can be found on Prime Video at the end of season one giving viewers a taste of what to expect. The trailer also showcases the drama and intrigue that will be coming. The debut was Prime’s most watch series and the upcoming season looks to continue where it left off.
