If you enjoy adult animation or the wonders of nature, give our Channel Surfing TV picks a try. Go back to Edo-period Japan for a violent tale of revenge in Blue Eye Samurai. Mark Grayson looks to pick up the pieces following the explosive season one finale in Invincible. Then, take an exciting journey across the world in Planet Earth III.

Daddy’s Girl

During the 17th century, Japan closed its borders isolating their people from the rest of the world. It would be very rare to see a non-Japanese face, unless you were part of the illegal trade. That’s where the mixed-race swordswoman, Mizu, comes in. At the time of her birth, there were only four white men in the entire kingdom. She is on a bloody mission to kill each believing at least one is of them is her father; the person responsible for making her an outcast.

Blue Eye Samurai is created by the husband-and-wife team of Amber Noizumi and Michael Green (Logan, Blade Runner 2049). The main voice cast includes Maya Erskine, Masi Oka, Darren Barnet, and Brenda Song. The quick elevator pitch is Kill Bill meets Yentl.

Stream the entire first season of Blue Eye Samurai beginning Friday, November 3, on Netflix.

Daddy’s Boy

When we last left Invincible, the Graysons are torn apart due to Nolan’s betrayal. Mark barely survives, but learns an even greater threat to Earth is out there. Meanwhile, the Global Defense Agency is developing countermeasures to both these outside dangers and if Mark follows in his dad’s footsteps.

Season two will see Mark try to maintain the balance of his personal life as a high school student along with his superhero responsibilities. All the while, he wrestles with the possibility of his biggest fear coming true: that he will become like his father. The trailer teases new characters and exploring alternate dimensions.

The season two premiere of Invincible airs Friday, November 3, on Prime Video.

Nature Is So Metal

Planet Earth is an award-winning documentary series from the BBC. The show takes viewers across the globe introducing familiar and new animal species in various habitats. Viewers receive intimate and close-up views of never-before-seen behaviors and the constant struggle for survival.

Planet Earth III continues the majestic and large-scale storytelling of our world narrated by Sir David Attenborough. Not only will we watch the beauty and brutality of nature, this season’s focus is on the fast-changing environments and how the different wildlife adapt to survive.

The premiere of Planet Earth III is Saturday, November 4, on BBC America.
