Along with scans of the work, Araújo supplied us with insights! Read on to see his incredible work and what went into creating these amazing double-page spreads.

“I have the luxury of working with a true creative partner, so there’s an enormous amount of freedom in each choice we make. Brian always provides me with a working option, but I can add, tweak, twist, cut, and/or paste any of it – and so can he. And in these pages you can see a bit of that.”

“For the first spread, we’re retelling what happened in Book 1 but in a distorted manner. What our heroes did in the previous adventure became a legend, but one that doesn’t match the true events. I drew the spread based on Brian’s description and narration while adding little things here and there. Brian then goes back and tweaks his descriptions or dialogues based on what I drew. It’s a back and forth, a conversation we’ve been keeping up for three volumes by now.”

“The second spread was very much the same, in this case with some of the stuff I added sparking new ideas in Brian’s head that later will appear, not only tweaks for the spread itself. For example, keep an eye on The Eye (wink wink). My apologies, couldn’t resist it.”
