DC Comics has shared information surrounding Nightwing #114 in a story called “Fallen Grayson,” which will be Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo’s last story arc on the series. The five-issue series reveals Heartless has sabotaged Nightwing as “Nightwing loses his ability to leap.”
“I love Haley, aka Bitewing,” said Bruno Redondo, “but I was really looking to draw a bearded Nightwing since we started. Our very last arc on Nightwing gives me that chance.”
The cover seems to give us clues as to what’s going on as well. Not only is Nightwing in the snowy mountains–maybe a plane crashed–but Haley appears to be fully grown. Does this mean the story takes place in the future? And how far into the future is this set?
Taylor makes it clear this is going to be an emotional journey, “We wanted to show how high this flying Grayson could soar. Now, it’s time for him to fall.”
Redondo added, “It will make many people sad.” He continued, “One last ride, full Tom and Bruno. If we are gonna end this (and every long arc needs to find its end), we are gonna make it in a big way.”
Considering how AIPT has truly loved this series, not to mention Redondo’s incredible art blowing our minds, it’s very sad to see it come to an end. But like all things, it’s in the end we sometimes find more meaning.
Nightwing #114 will be available in comic shops on May 21. Reach out to your local comic book shop to order, along with the rest of the ongoing Nightwing run.
