Channel Surfing: Awesome TV picks for the week of 02/19/2024

Our Channel Surfing TV picks this week revolve around fan favorite franchises.

Our Channel Surfing TV picks for the week revolve around fan favorite franchises. The series exploring the exploits of Clone Force 99 is coming to an end on Star Wars: The Bad Batch. A beloved animated series receives a live action television adaptation in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Then, watch how love endures even in the zombie apocalypse in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.

No Clone Left Behind

As a new season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch is set to begin, Clone Force 99 are in a bad place. When we last left off, one of their members sacrificed himself so the rest of the crew could escape from the Imperials. Later on, their youngest teammate, Omega, is captured by the evil Dr. Hemlock.

Season three sees the Bad Batch out for one last fight. They must rescue Omega from the clutches of their enemy. In the process, we just might see a few familiar faces such as bounty hunters Fennec Shand and Cad Bane and former Sith apprentice, Asajj Ventress.

Stream the three-episode season three premiere of Star Wars: The Bad Batch beginning Wednesday, February 21, on Disney+.

Mastering the Elements

Avatar: The Last Airbender began as an animated series on Nickelodeon. The action fantasy show became a big hit, and spawned a live-action film, which failed to live up to fans’ expectations. Now, it is receiving another live-action adaptation, but returning to its television roots.

The story takes place in a war torn land where a select few can wield powers related to the four classical natural elements. When the Fire Nation looks to dominate its neighbors, it’s up to the Avatar to maintain balance and peace. The Avatar is the only person that can bend all four elements to his will.

Watch the entire first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender starting Thursday, February 22, on Netflix.

Love at the End of the World

The Walking Dead main series might have ended in 2022, but the main characters live on in their own centric stories. We have already received shows focusing on Daryl Dixon along with Maggie Greene and Negan. In The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, we catch up with Rick Grimes and Michonne.

Back in season nine of The Walking Dead, Rick sacrifices himself to lure Walkers away from his friends. Though there is a big explosion, he survives and is whisked away by helicopter to places unknown. A season later, Michonne finds evidence that Rick, the father of her child, is still alive and sets out to find him. Their new spinoff show tells the tale of the hardships each goes through in order to be reunited once again.

The series premiere of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live airs Sunday, February 25, on AMC.
